Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has been ranked among the top 10 African universities for research output in the 2026 QS Africa University Rankings.
KNUST climbed four places to 8th position, driven by increased publications in engineering, agriculture, and medical sciences. The university's collaboration with international research institutions has been a key factor.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso expressed pride in the achievement. "This ranking reflects the dedication of our faculty and students to world-class research that solves African problems," he said.
The university has recently established research centers in renewable energy, food security, and digital health, attracting millions in grant funding from the European Union and the Gates Foundation.
Students celebrated the news on campus, with many expressing pride in their institution's growing global reputation.
